Michael F. Feeney

Michael F. Feeney is an experienced legal professional with a distinguished career as a District Court Magistrate in Colorado. He is experienced in a variety of judicial matters, both from his time on the bench and in private practice. He has been semi-retired since 2019 and now serves as part-time Of Counsel Mediator for KHM Attorneys at Law. 

Mr. Feeney dedicated over two decades to the Fourth Judicial District, Colorado, as a District Court Magistrate. His tenure included: 

  • Domestic Matters (pre-decree), comprising 55% of all domestic filings in El Paso County in Division X. 
  • Domestic Matters (post-decree), Juvenile cases, and Civil Protection Orders in Division R.
  • Presiding over Probate Court (Division W), which included Guardianships, Conservatorships, Decedent’s Estates, Wills and Trusts, Personal Injury Involving Minors, and Mental Health Cases.

Prior to this, he served as a Part-Time County Court Magistrate for El Paso County, Colorado, managing all County Court Civil Returns, Felony Bond Advisements, and Traffic Infractions in Division M.

Mr. Feeney also has extensive experience in private practice and alternative dispute resolution: He ran a Solo general practice in Colorado Springs which focused on domestic, family, and juvenile law. He began as an associate and rose to become a partner at the law firm of Agee, Ewing and Feeney in Colorado Springs, engaging in the general practice of law. He worked as a Part-Time contract mediator with the Office of Dispute Resolution for the Fourth Judicial District, Colorado. 

Mr. Feeney holds a Juris Doctorate degree received in 1984 from Drake University School of Law. He completed his undergraduate studies in 1980, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree from The Colorado College. 

He is licensed to practice law in Colorado (since 1984) and Iowa (since 1984, currently on inactive status). His federal licenses include the Federal District Court for the District of Colorado (since 1985) and the U.S. Supreme Court (since 1997).
