Philip “Shad” Shadwick brings a broad spectrum of legal experience to Knies, Helland & McPherson Law. He has litigated a wide range of civil cases in Colorado and Montana including wrongful death, banking, employment, insurance, and commercial disputes. He also has significant criminal law experience in Colorado, particularly in criminal defense. Throughout his career in Colorado, he has developed a reputation as being a problem solver, helping put his clients in a better position and being able to thrive in the future. Shad has a passion for helping his clients succeed. He believes in meeting his clients wherever they are in life, getting to know them, and being their voice in difficult times.
Shad comes to family law with personal and professional experience in divorce and custody matters. He understands the fear, anxiety, and uncertainty these issues bring to one’s life. Combining empathy, compassion, and a strong legal background, Shad is a determined advocate, always seeking the best outcome for his clients.
Shad received a Bachelor’s degree in Government from the University of Texas at Austin and is a huge Longhorn fan. He received his law degree from the University of Montana. Shad has also trained at the Jerry Spence Trial Lawyers College. While in law school, he completed an internship with the United States Attorney General's Office. After law school, he practiced with one of the leading civil litigation firms in the Northwest before opening his own practice. While living in Missoula, he was elected President of the Western Montana Bar Association. After moving back to Colorado, he practiced with personal injury and criminal defense in Colorado Springs. Shad has handled a wide range of civil and criminal cases gaining significant courtroom experience.
Out of the office, you can find Shad at one of his son’s lacrosse games, on a river throwing a fly, or hiking the mountains of Colorado.
